The Sustainable Vineyard approach brings together SWR’s existing work on labour standards and sustainable viticulture to build an evidence base, track trends, and share best practice across the wine value chain. It gives the whole industry a shared, data-driven view of modern vineyard sustainability and how to get there. This will be captured in an annual Sustainable Vineyard Barometer which will detail the state of play on labour and viticulture from wine regions globally.
This survey forms a key part of this work and collects insights about practices in vineyards. The questions are designed not to create a new standard or add to the audit burden — they should be readily answerable with information a wine business has to hand.
Data will be collected anonymously. However, should a vineyard wish to make public a particular aspect of their practices which they think would be valuable to others, we would be delighted to know about and share these good practices.
